WELCOME!
Thank you for visiting my website and exploring my books.
"I grew up in a house with lots of books and parents always reading. I remember being fascinated by the very look of books, and I remember what an impression my paternal grandparents' home had on me when we visited when I was four years old, five, six, seven, walking in the front door of their English Tudor into a chestnut paneled reception hall lined with leaded glass-doored Gothic bookcases, full of books. In the presence of these books, one was filled with awe, as if walking into a cathedral."
"Whenever I pass the bookcase in my study packed with my books, it always amazes me: how did so many accumulate over five decades? When did this happen?"

"I remember only the joy, the exuberance of taking an idea and working with it, of daily tackling and solving the myriad challenges each chapter, each page, every paragraph can present."

—A Slant of Wind
In another century, I might have been described as "a man of belles-lettres" if that can mean writers who jump around forms and topics depending on what interests them at the moment. My books include history, biography, memoirs and essays. Novels to come. Stay tuned!
